Through the generosity of more than 500 people on Kickstarter, we have been working on our first two Masters of Hawaiian Music FIlm Series films. The first is on Uncle Richard Ho'opi'i, and the second is on Uncle Dennis Kamakahi.

On this page you can follow our progress behind the scenes! I hope you enjoy the journey with us, and thank you for your incredible support.
This photo was from the very first shoot, with uncle RIchard at the Napili Kai show. We filmed this in April with 3 cameras, here you can see two of them.
It was a great show as always!
In the photo to the right we can see Uncle Richard instructing a class at George Kahumoku Jr's Slack Key Workshop, held yearly in Napili. It was a great class, and we got great footage of Uncle RIchard teaching.
In the photo on the left, we find Uncle Richard on the set of our featured performance shoot, in Kahakuloa in front of the historic church. We shot this with 5 cameras, Uncle Richard performed, and was supported with hula by his wife, daughter and grand-daughter. It was incredible to witness this, and I cannot wait for you all to see it!
In the photo on the right, I am directing two members of our production crew. Camera operator Sascha Bauml was operating a slide jib, and Chivo from Akaku was also on hand to help out. In this shot you can see 4 cameras, which may seem like a lot for just 1 person, but they each had very important and distinct duties.
Here is a photo of the church itself, which is a real treasure and deserves to be fully restored, which Uncle Richard is working on.
On the right here I am after wrapping the Kahakuloa shoot with crew members Sascha and Susan. Mahalo everyone for your help on this project!
